Beyond IoT - "Energy as a Service" as key to the mass market

European Utility Week//12 – 14 November 2019//Paris//Kiwigrid sponsor and IoT expert

Paris, November 2019: Around 18,000 trade visitors and 800 exhibitors from all over the world went to Paris for the European Utility Week & POWERGEN Europe 2019 in Paris to catch up with the latest trends of the global energy system transformation. Kiwigrid was one of the sponsors of the leading trade fair for innovative solutions in the energy industry and explained in a hub session why IoT alone cannot be regarded as a business model for the new energy world.

One industry, one question: Where do we stand today and how (quickly) can we continue? The energy sector is currently undergoing a transformation towards a fully sustainable energy world. Key issues include e-mobility, smart energy concepts from renewable sources and transactive grids. The possibilities for development are almost endless and sometimes diffuse. The European Utility Week (EUW) is a recognized trendsetter in the industry. Over three days, visitors will be presented with groundbreaking energy solutions along the entire value chain, from intelligent networks to smart cities and intelligent homes. Kiwigrid is positioning itself in the field as a provider of a holistic IoT platform for sustainable energy and e-mobility concepts. The main idea is to link relevant technologies and business models for energy, heat and e-mobility comprehensively. IoT alone can only be the foundation for that. In the EUW hub session, Kiwigrid stated that complementary energy services are needed to bridge the gap to the mass market and explained the key role of the "Energy as a Service" model.

Next year, EUW & POWERGEN Europe will be appearing for the first time in Milan as the new, uniform "Enlit" brand. Increasing numbers of visitors and exhibitors are expected.
